A Classic September 26, 2007 Sk3ptic (Michigan) 24 out of 27 found this review helpful
This song captures a time in America at the tail end of the hippie generation. You can spend hours decrypting the the lyrics. All of this for about 10 cents a minute. Can't be beat.
The best pie of all. September 27, 2007 Brian Geringer (Iwate no inaka!) 14 out of 19 found this review helpful
American Pie is, perhaps, one of the greatest songs of all time. It is also the best song for karaoke bar none. I could not recommend this song highly enough. Also, the price/min is an unquestionable value.

This Song Belongs In Any Serious Music Collection January 15, 2009 trapeze (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Dedicated to Buddy Holly, this is one of the greats...an absolute staple of FM/AM radio during the 1970's it endures. This song will still be getting airtime twenty, thirty years from now.
MP3 - great old song June 2, 2010 Mr. Kenley C. Vogt (Penfield, New York 14526) I bough this for my SONY MP3 player and wanted some oldies to listen to. This is a great old tune by Don Mclean and it brought back lots of memories. I wish I could find the radio studio demo that explained the lyrics - It aired when the song first came out.
The MP3 preview missed this song's hook February 15, 2008 M. A. Litscher (Milwaukee, WI USA) 9 out of 14 found this review helpful
Whomever it was who chose this portion of this song as the preview clip for Amazon's MP3 store mustn't be familiar with this song, as they've missed the hook entirely. The song's hook, which will cause anyone 40-ish or older to start singing along, drunk or sober, is this:
So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."
